Who we are
Quai is made by qdpy and sold by Qore Games, which is responsible for the data described here. Write to [email protected] with any question about this policy.
What stays on your Mac
Your Dock, your settings and what your widgets keep — notes, timers, alarms, water logs, chosen cities — are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Quai. Keys for connected services are stored in your login Keychain. None of it is sent to us: Quai has no account and no sync, and nothing about you is kept on a server.
When Quai goes online
Only for the features you use, and always directly from your Mac to the service concerned, whose own privacy policy applies:
- Weather asks Open-Meteo for the forecast of the place you chose, and searches its list of places when you look up a city. With “current location”, macOS provides your position and Apple’s geocoding service names the place.
- AI Limits asks the tools you already use — the Codex and Claude Code command line tools, and the GitHub CLI for Copilot — and they check your usage with OpenAI, Anthropic and GitHub under your own account. To show Claude Code or Antigravity CLI, Quai adds a small status line bridge to that tool’s settings, keeping any status line you already use.
- Stock and Watchlist ask Yahoo Finance for the symbols you follow.
- Stripe, Paddle, Shopify and Mollie are contacted with the key you entered, and Revenue API with the address you entered.
- Links in the Dock fetch their icon from the website itself, or from Google’s icon service.
- Now Playing loads album artwork from Spotify when Spotify is playing.
Updates
Quai asks quaidock.app whether a new version is out: once a day if you allow it (Quai asks the first time), or when you choose Check for Updates…. The request carries Quai’s version and, once you’ve activated updates, your license key, so the download can be authorized. Nothing else about you or your Mac is sent. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings › About.
Local tools
The AI widgets read usage figures and session files that tools on your Mac already keep, such as Codex, Claude Code or the GitHub CLI. Claude Sessions, Codex Sessions, Kilo Sessions and Cursor Sessions read their local session files to show what each one is doing (for Cursor, only the list of conversations Cursor keeps on your Mac, not their messages). The Command and Shortcut widgets run only what you set up. Quai doesn’t send any of this anywhere; the tools themselves talk to their own services, as they always do.
Permissions
Every permission is optional and asked for when you use what needs it: Accessibility for badges, minimized windows and keeping windows clear of the Dock; Screen Recording for window previews; Calendars, Reminders and Location for their widgets; Automation to control Music, Spotify and the Finder’s Trash; Notifications for timers and alerts. Window previews are kept on your Mac only. You can review or revoke any permission in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Payments
When you buy Quai, you give your email address, and Mollie processes the payment under its own privacy policy. Mollie keeps your email address with the payment, and Resend delivers one email to it: your download link and license key. We don’t use it for anything else — no newsletter, no marketing. We receive the payment’s status and reference from Mollie, plus what Mollie reports for accounting. The website itself keeps no database of buyers: your license key is derived from your payment, not stored.
This website
This site has no cookies and no analytics. Its only form sends you to Mollie’s checkout. Your download page remembers your license key in your browser’s storage, so you can come back to it; “Forget this license” on that page removes it. The company that hosts the site may keep the usual server logs for security.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date.
